Cinco de Mayo


This Annual Celebration occurs on Saturday of Cinco de Mayo. The Downtown events are from Noon till about 4pm. This is a downtown event with lots of fun and live music along with the Annual Taco Bell TACO MUNCH Taco eating contest at 2pm. For more information please call (505)-863-6851.


Rt. 66 Freedom Ride & Flight


This Motorcycle ride across New Mexico is a salute to our Armed Forces. This weekend event happens on the 3rd Saturday of May and falls upon Armed Forces Day. This is a great local way to support our Veterans and is highly attended by motorcyclists and hot air balloonist from throughout the region. Run For the Wall


This annual cross country motorcycle ride to the Vietnam's Memorial Mall in Washington, DC is the highlight of our motorcycle events. We, the people of Gallup, proudly salute our Veterans and this is the most highly anticipated ride of our community. The United States Team Roping Competition (USTRC) Team Roping Championship takes place at our outstanding outdoor Red Rock Arena. This is a highly anticipated event and tickets are best found early. For information please call (505)863-6701.


Annual Lion's Club Rodeo and Barbecue


Four days of amateur rodeos along with the best barbecue dinner in town, a great big parade and a country western dance. This event has over 800 cowboys and cowgirls and takes place in June. For more information call Scott Clawson (505)870-4952.


Gallup Triathlon


Participants will swim 375 yards, bike 12 miles and run 5k. Spectators can watch the start and finish on Boardman Ave. at the Gallup Aquatic Center. For information on how to participate please call (505)863-4228.

Relay for Life is a Gallup Sponsored event that raises money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. The event takes place on June 24-25 and all participants are greatly admired for their commitment to a cause that affects all of us. For more information please call (505)863-3075.

JULY


Annual "Wild Thing" Championship Bull Riding occurs in July. The toughest riders on the rankest bulls go for two nights and compete for nearly $25,000 in prize money. This is the number one Open Bull Riding event in the Southwest and is televised for both the U.S. and Canada. This is a can't miss event for any Bull Riding enthusiast or even the novice who wants to see the sport of Bull Riding at its natural and finest. And for those who know what the bull's have to offer, the city of Gallup asks you to step up to our Cowboy Poker competition. Don't miss the mouth dropping, ear-popping fireworks demonstration that will keep you filled with excitement until next year!

Annual Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial, (505)863-3896
This is the oldest tradition that is basis of our city's relationship with our Native Americans. The event takes place on the second week of August and is highlighted by nightly Native American dances by over 15 separate tribes at Red Rock Arena. This event also has 2 parades, tons of Native American Artwork and crafts for sale along with the local population supporting their tribes in authentic Indian apparel. If you truly want a feel for the way the Southwest once was, then this is the do not miss event of the season.

The Squash Blossom Mountain Bike Classic is one of several held in Gallup, NM yearly. It is a two day event in September, which is a Mountain Bike race for all levels. This is a great individual and family event that showcases many of Gallup's biking trails that will bring you back year after year. DECEMBER


The Annual Red Rock Balloon Rally, with over 150 hot air balloons in the skies above Gallup, a community Christmas Parade with over 140 floats and the spirit of Gallup soaring as school aged children look up at all of the unique balloons is an event not to be missed. The children love it as much as the adults and the Balloon Glow at night is the event that makes the Christmas Season complete to all who have participated and seen this wonderful spectacle.
